Laneway Love Premise:
Our peaceful Penticton community has been affected by some pretty significant challenges recently and the stacking up of these is surely impacting the sense of love, trust, and safety that residents and business owners had before. A steady string of robberies, mental illness and addiction driving aggressive behaviour on our streets, negative chatter on social media, and most recently a horrific multiple murder. It’s bad stuff. But we can take steps to heal together and bring light into the darker corners of our fears. Laneway Love is a movement designed to invite play, creativity, and connection. Our laneways are the ‘behind’ of our front facing businesses - the forgotten or ignored parts. But laneways are more than functional passageways - they’re opportunities for secret entrances and extracurricular fun. In other cities, laneways represent a kind of sub-culture or flip-side for businesses and residents. We hope you'll join us in filling this laneway with love and laughter - everyone is welcome! |
